How Do We Improve the NORAs?

Even though the 13th National Online Recruitment Awards event doesn’t take place until Tuesday 12th November, the entire process begins much earlier in the year.  Right now, in fact.  Even before nominations open to the public at the beginning of July, I have a huge list of things to prepare.

Each year, at this time, I like to consider the individual award categories we have, and whether they need refined, changed, or added to.  Given that technology sector we occupy is continually evolving, it is entirely possible that the definition of an award isn’t as applicable now, as when the awards were started in 2000.

To that end, I’ve been approached by several people suggesting changes, or an additional award to recognise say Social Media in Recruitment, or even an Outstanding Website of the year (to be selected from all Finalists shortlisted in all categories).

PS. Please bear in mind that the central premise of the NORAs is to recognise excellence and achievement in the delivery of online recruitment services direct to candidates.  We ask jobseekers themselves to nominate sites, so all nominated websites must be visible brands to those actually looking for jobs.  Each of our awards must therefore fall within that remit.
