Please Donate to Mama Biashara
Thank you so much for coming to the 24th annual National Online Recruitment Awards in London this week. This was one of our best ever NORAs, and we had a phenomenal line-up of Finalists and Winners in the night.
Finally, I have one last request. If you had a great time this week, if you went home with a trophy, appreciate the achievement of being a finalist, or even came along as a guest of a sponsor or myself, I’d like you to consider making a donation to our chosen charity (I am a trustee).
NORA Academy Ltd will be donating 20% of all NORA ticket sales revenue to Mama Biashara.
Mama Biashara is a unique charity, based in Shepherd’s Bush, London, with the purpose of saving women and girls in Kenya. By means of making micro-business grants to women, we enable them to start small businesses, to lift themselves and their families out of poverty, human trafficking and worse. The only condition is that when they are established, they then help to support more women and girls in the same situation. Led by Kate Copstick for the past 15 years, Mama Biashara (meaning business mother) has helped tens of thousands. This is a charity with no overheads or salaries, so every penny goes directly to help women get on their feet. It’s a hand-up, not a hand-out.
Donations can be made here, and every pound is very much appreciated.
Mama Biashara works with the poorest and most marginalised people in Kenya. We give grants to set up small, sustainable businesses that bring financial independence and security. We offer training and employment in everything from phone repairs to manicures. We have built a children’s home, which we still support. We’ve created water-harvesting solutions for drought-devastated areas. And we are starting to use the Mama B method to help those fleeing FGM, forced marriage, sex slavery and child rape.
